No matter the size of your book or what you think you need to aim for, there is a lot more to those numbers. A $1, $5, or $10 million book does not mean the same thing at every stage of a BigLaw career. The number may be the same, but what the firm is focused on with that number isn’t. And regardless of where you are either as an aspiring partner or in your partnership tenure, how a firm values and measures the that book matters. The same top line number can point to very different books of businesses, and you need to know what your firm is going to be looking at to distinguish them.
