#72: How to Assert Yourself in the BigLaw Sandbox

Listen here: How to Assert Yourself in the BigLaw Sandbox

Navigating the politics and battles of BigLaw can seem like the workplace equivalent of a playground sandbox where the rules are often unspoken, there are more than a few bullies, and you feel like you’re at the risk of getting pushed around. There are a lot of shifting power dynamics and you have to know how to advocate for yourself, without triggering pushback that could harm your reputation.

Even if you’ve been burned in the past or you’re simply unsure now of how to step up and engage when you have to confront some of the biggest power players in your firm, it’s critical to recognize that to get what you need you’re probably going to have to get in and engage. In this episode, I break down practical ways to navigate this environment, politics, advocate for your own advancement, and shift how you're seen by the decision-makers at your firm.
